Torus Ammonia Reducer is a consortium of nitrifying and heterotrophic bacteria that transforms toxic ammoniacal nitrogen in wastewater into harmless nitrogen compounds. Ammonia-oxidising and nitrite-oxidising bacteria drive a complete nitrification pathway, while facultative denitrifiers can carry nitrogen through to nitrogen gas where full removal is required. Housed within our Torocell WT bioreactor, it delivers stable, chemical-free ammonia control across municipal and industrial effluent streams.

Mechanism of Action: Nitrification: Ammonia-oxidising bacteria convert NH4 to nitrite, then nitrite-oxidising bacteria convert nitrite to nitrate. Denitrification: Under anoxic conditions, denitrifiers reduce nitrate to inert nitrogen gas for complete nitrogen removal

Torus Sulphide Reducer is a consortium of sulphur-oxidising and heterotrophic bacteria that removes dissolved sulphides and hydrogen sulphide from wastewater by biologically oxidising them to non-odorous, non-corrosive sulphate. It tackles the odour, corrosion and toxicity problems caused by sulphide build-up in sewers and sulphate-rich industrial effluents. Housed within our Torocell WT bioreactor, it provides continuous, chemical-free sulphide and odour control.

Mechanism of Action: Biological Sulphide Oxidation: Sulphur-oxidising bacteria convert hydrogen sulphide and dissolved sulphides to sulphate. Odour and Corrosion Control: Removing sulphide at source stops H2S off-gassing and the sulphuric-acid corrosion it drives

Torus TOC Reducer is a consortium of heterotrophic microorganisms selected to metabolise the diverse organic compounds that drive up Total Organic Carbon in wastewater. It breaks complex carbon molecules down into simple compounds and ultimately into carbon dioxide and water, cutting TOC, COD and BOD together. Housed within our Torocell WT bioreactor, it delivers stable, chemical-free reduction of organic load across industrial and municipal effluent streams.

Mechanism of Action: Heterotrophic Oxidation: Bacteria consume dissolved and colloidal organic carbon as a food source, oxidising it to carbon dioxide and water. Broad Substrate Range: A diverse consortium degrades mixed and complex organics that single strains cannot fully break down

Free-dosed microbes wash out of a treatment train before they can establish. Torocell WT holds a high, stable biomass of our ammonia and sulphide reducing consortia on engineered surfaces, so treatment stays consistent even as flow and load swing through the day.

How it fits the system

Torocell WT is installed as a treatment stage within the client's existing water treatment line. Wastewater passes through the reactor, where the housed consortia oxidise ammonia and sulphide before the stream moves on for polishing and discharge or reuse.
